Part Two- Character Info
Character Name: Daphne Aurore Greengrass
Character Journal: [info]difficile | difficile
Age: 17
Birthday: December 21, 1979
House/Year: Slytherin, 7th
Bloodline: (Pureblood,Half-blood, Muggle born): Pureblood
Sexuality: Heterosexual
Political View: Neutral on all grounds.
Appearance: Daphne thinks of herself as very natural, but holding a higher beauty than others, which of course, her arrogance helps with this. She's got this curvy body that she thinks is sometimes too large, but other times perfect and uses it to her advantage. She stands at roughly 5'6", but still considers herself very short of her age and size. From afar, she appears flawless, but if one were to see her without clothing, they'd notice several flaws that she would not be willing to point out, or even admit to. She dresses in a casual, but almost formal way, either wearing jeans and a blouse or sweater, or skirts and the like. She doesn't do anything that would make someone question her as being risque or provocative, though she does own clothing that would make people think that and she wouldn't be afraid to use them to her advantage. Fortunately, however, she has more common sense than that.

Her skin is seemingly flawless, however she uses special potions that her mother gave her at a young age to maintain it from aging or blemishing. Daphne was never one to get a good tan, so she's somewhat pale, though her cheeks are always sun kissed and colored with make up. Which is something that is again, very natural. Daphne doesn't wear much make up, only indulging in neutrals and soft colors to accentuate her features. Eyeliner and mascara is seldom worn, but she doesn't shy away from it at all, as she does attend a lot of functions where she feels looking her best is mandatory. Her hair falls down past her shoulders in either straight or wavy locks. Having the choice makes her feel more in control of her hair. She wasn't always one to wear it up on most days, but when she's alone, she doesn't mind throwing it up in a messy bun and sitting around reading in the sun.
PB (played by): Blake Lively or Amber Heard
Personality: Being in Slytherin, one word that can truly describe Daphne is Machiavellian, or scheming. Since she was little, she has been able to argue her way out of any situation, in school or at home. It took her a few years to truly master it, but her brothers were really quite the help when it came to these things. All she had to do was watch and learn. Which is probably how she became quite good at other things, as well. Since she has grown into herself a bit more, Daphne has found that she can flirt her way out of almost everything. It's getting to be handy anymore. In school, she hasn't had any problems with the professors, but she has an air about her that no one would dare say no to. She's sneaky, that much is certain. Daphne can be someplace and leave quickly without being seen or heard. She's not fast, but she does have some stealth. And she definitely not stupid enough to be heard if she's sneaking around. But even personality wise, it has certainly come in handy.

Daphne has always stood aloof from her classmates, sometimes very distant from them, to the point that she isn't noticed. However, she is a bit of a socialite, taking after her mother at a very young age. She acts as if she wouldn't want an awful lot of friends, but in all honestly, Daphne really does like having people to talk to. It's actually a bit contradictory, but it's just how she's always been. She has no problem talking to people, but she does judge them within the first few moments of a conversation.

When it comes to those she respects and considers friends, she's able to let loose, so to speak, and be another one of the crowd. She has the ability to blend in anywhere, fitting in with the more quiet and reserved folk, as well as those who like to talk, gossip and giggle. Though she doesn't let people see it, Daphne is very bookish, not always wanting to be around other people, talking or having fun, she would much rather be laying around and reading a good book to broaden her mind.

She's also very family oriented, equally as close with every member of her family. Being this family oriented has actually taught her to be very thoughtful, as well. She does care about the wellbeing of others, but not to the point where she's nosy or simply too soft. Her family has always come first, whether through the good or the bad, they have taught her everything that's important for her to know. And she's really a lot like her mother. While she's a very social being, she isn't quite as giddy and air-headed as her mother can be. She does keep her cool, though socializing is one of her many favorite things to do.

Academically, Daphne does her best. She's not a genius, nor the top of her class, but she tries to keep her grades high enough to impress her family and friends. It isn't uncommon to find her in the Common Room or the Library studying to keep her grades up. Her best subjects are Transfiguration, Charms and Astronomy, though she does struggle with Herbology and Care of Magical Creatures. Not because she's bad at them, she just has problems focusing on something that is so bloody boring.

Any person can tell you how understanding Daphne can be. Talking to her is like having a best friend, even when one is not friends with her. She has no problem talking or listening to people if they have to vent. She's very good at listening. She has a very strong understanding in human emotions, having felt a ton of them herself. While she has good judgement, she doesn't necessarily always make the absolute best decisions. She has been found making mistakes in the past, be it with boys or in academic situations.

Naturally, she's horrifically ambitious and cunning, and if that means lying, she will lie her way out of a bloody corn maze. There are times when she just doesn't care who she hurts, but she will lie as long as it benefits her to the fullest. However, when someone lies to her and she finds out, it's not exactly a conversation one wants to walk in on. She does have a temper and will show it when provoked, though it's normally behind a veil. She's viciously protective of her friends and housemates as she was taught and she has no problem defending them to the fullest. Daphne isn't perfect, she's no saint, but then again no one is. She tries, but this is the best she can do.
History: Hogwarts to present time: Born on December 21, 1979, Daphne was the third -- and not final -- child of Lorelei and Nikolai Greengrass. The boys; Carlisle and Braedon, were only one and four at the time, but already showed early signs of jealously. As it was, Daphne just happened to be the first female child conceived and born into the Greengrass family in seven generations. Both boys sensed at an early age that they would probably be put second best to the newest member of their family, but had no idea that at times it would get extreme. Her parents noticed the attitude of Carlisle, the eldest son, had changed dramatically as Daphne got older and feared he wouldn't be beneficial to Daphne's childhood. It turned out that when the two children were old enough to understand, he became extremely protective over her.

When Daphne was just two, Lorelei gave birth to their second daughter, Astoria. Since Daphne was so young at the time, she really only saw the new baby as something to play with, even roll around on the floor with when she got into her rolling phase. These younger years together would develop into a close friendship between the two sisters in later years, again, something that the boys would certainly be jealous of.

Before she turned eleven, Daphne was tutored at home, learning the simpleist spells by watching her parents or her brothers. Her tutor, Josephine, would teach her not only the proper use of a wand and the proper pronunciation of incantations, but she would also teach her a bit of the French language and muggle history and how it had affected wizarding history. Daphne was brought up as quite the princess with a private tutor at her home and her own wing in the Greengrass manor. Her parents taught her that being anything but pureblooded was wrong and she grew up with the notion that muggles and muggleborns alike were as worthless as the Jews during the Holocaust. She was raised very, very proper with exceptional table manners, speaking habits and the correct posture that would make anyone else sick to their stomach. If any word described Daphne, it was 'Princess'.

Summers in the Greengrass family were always spent boating on the Norfolk and Suffolk Broads, allowing the children to feel what luxury was really like. Their parents were brought up very wealthy and powerful in the Wizarding society and they wanted that for their children. They took them to all over; Paris, Rome, Scotland, Ireland. They allowed their children to see life as it was before they were sent off to school.

It was no surprise when Daphne was invited to Hogwarts. Her mother debated on Hogwarts or sending her off to Beauxbatons, but since Hogwarts was so close and it was where she went herself, it was the best choice. Her brothers were there and would be able to ween her off of her mother and into the schooling world. Surprisingly, however, it was Astoria Daphne didn't want to leave. Her little sister had turned into more than just a toy to her and she felt awful about leaving her at home all alone. Sorted into Slytherin like her eldest brother, Carlisle, Daphne didn't have the slightest problems making friends. She had already known Draco and Pansy from their childhood, but it was a couple of the other students she didn't know. Tracey Davis, Millicent Bulstrode, Blaise and Theodore were all knew people in her life, and though it would take a couple of months, she'd eventually get used to them.

To her brothers amazement, Daphne never needed help with anything. He admitted that she was the absolute spitting image of their mother, always knowing what to say at the right time, the way she held herself in public. It was no surprise, however, that she knew how to handle herself when it came to conflict or stress. She was very well mannered and calm about things, able to think before she acted, a trait her brother admittedly was envious of.

As her schooling years progressed, so did her attitude towards many things. The first three years, she stayed very pompous and kept to herself about many things. She would continue believing in pureblooded customs and would never back down from an argument, even if she was wrong about something. As she developed, she began noticing the attention she was gaining from some of the blokes in her house, though regrettably, none of them she was mildly interested in. Since this was the last thing on her mind, she continued furthering her education, being part of Dueling Club, helping the Quidditch team out by making signs and holding amusing raffles and bets on which team would win. She gained the friendship of most of the Quidditch players, boosting her up in the popularity scale and making her just a little more conceited.

Fifth year rolled around without any problems and Daphne was beginning to look more and more like a young woman. Her brothers were in their last years of school and doing their own things, worrying about NEWT's or what girls they'd take to Hogsmeade and didn't have time for Daphne. In that same sense, Astoria was gaining popularity with her own year and Daphne stayed quite busy. She got the attention of Blaise Zabini and Theodore Nott, though she never cared to pursue it, as ruining friendships wasn't on her schedule for the rest of the year. This was the year Professor Umbridge came to teach at Hogwarts and in all honesty, Daphne bloody loved it. She was one of the first people to offer to be in the Inquisitorial Squad, wanting nothing more than to see Potter and his little git friends defeated. She never got in trouble for anything she did and never once had to serve one of those awful detentions.

After being what most people had considered 'the good girl', Daphne decided it was time to dabble in habits and hobbies that her parents probably didn't approve of. Sure, it was her way of rebelling, but didn't every teenager do it once in their life? Her brothers let her smoke every now and again, and while she didn't care for the taste all that much, she did find that it became addictive and she wanted to do it more and more. Still, she tried to stay away from it unless she was around older people, the twenty-somethings, who she really wanted to impress. After smoking, she decided to pick up light drinking. Sure, at most family functions, Daphne was allowed to drink her champagne, her wine, anything to keep face with the other socialites, but she picked up Firewhiskey and muggle lagers like Guinnness and Fosters. That was definitely a much less attractive habit, but she was finding it was also much less addictive, and if done in moderation, she'd be able to control this. So really, she picked up some new habits, but never became a chain smoker or an alcoholic like the other members in her family. Truth was, she still wanted to be a role model for her sister.

The summer before her sixth year, Daphne spent with her sister in France. Just the two of them so they could share some sort of bonding that they didn't have before. Daphne had grown up protecting her throughout the years, but leaning more towards her brothers for friendship. After so many years, she found that this just wasn't fair to her and the two girls convinced their parents to let them spend the two months off in their vacation home. Paris was absolutely perfect. They shopped, they went to fashion shows and jewelry premiers, horse shows and the local hotspots in the evenings. It really was the one thing they needed to pull together a bond they didn't think they'd ever have.

When Dumbledore died at the end of her sixth year, Daphne was in fact saddened by this, but also slightly indifferent. She had never personally spoke to him, but she knew without him around, there was a possiblity of chaos within the school for the following year. But when summer rolled around, she pushed all of those thoughts to the back of her mind and focused on a nice summer in Paris with her family. Not just her brothers, but indeed the whole family together like they were only two years prior. When her seventh year starts up again, she's not entirely sure what to expect from the rest of the student body or even from the staff, but she knows things at Hogwarts will never be the same.
